large-load interconnection requests ERCOT is tracking (~90% data centers; arc: 63 → 233 → 438 → 474 GW; more than 5x ERCOT's record peak demand). Batch Zero paused 2026-08-03 by gubernatorial directive; conditional classification issued 2026-09-03

CaveatERCOT's status has moved in dated steps. The governor paused Batch Zero on 2026-08-03 pending a PUCT/ERCOT project-by-project audit. On 2026-08-20 the PUCT granted exceptions, and ERCOT notice M-A080326-02 (2026-08-21) opened a conditional-classification route. On 2026-09-03 ERCOT conditionally classified 362 base or studied projects, and its 2026-09-14 State and Community Impact RFI followed (responses were due 2026-10-12; ERCOT targets eligibility-verification and community-impact reports for 2026-12-10). A conditional classification is not a final classification, a completed study or permission to energize any project.

SourceAbbott directive letter (2026-08-03, ~474 GW / ~90% DC); prior print 438+ GW (ERCOT, 2026-06-18). BNEF estimates the pause could delay ~50 GW. Operating sites unaffected.
