Who we are

The Definitive Guide to AI Data Centers (“the Guide”, “we”, “us”) operates aidatacenterguide.com and is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact us at editors@aidatacenterguide.com.

What we collect

Information you give us

• Email — when you subscribe to the newsletter (confirmed via double opt-in).
• Account details — if you sign in, our authentication provider supplies your email and, if you provide it, your name.
• Content you create — saved calculator scenarios and bookmarks tied to your account, and any correction or feedback you submit.
• Contact messages — your email and message, plus optional name and topic, so we can read and reply.
• Correction submissions — chapter, quoted passage, suggestion, and optional private email. A separate optional display name is published only when you explicitly consent to public credit; we never derive a public name from your email.
• Questions to “Ask the Guide” — the text of questions you send to our assistant.

Information collected automatically (analytics)

• Usage events — pages viewed, searches, questions asked, calculator runs — via PostHog (EU region). By default these are collected anonymously, with nothing stored on your device (no cookies or local storage), using a privacy-preserving identifier. If you accept analytics, a cookie lets us recognise you across visits, and our own first-party analytics begin.
• Approximate location (country, derived from IP) and basic device/browser information.
• We run no advertising trackers, and we do not sell personal data.

Cookies & local storage

Essential (always on, no consent required): your theme choice, your sign-in session, your saved bookmarks and scenarios, and your cookie choice itself.

Analytics: by default PostHog measures anonymously and sets no cookies or other storage on your device. Only if you accept do PostHog and our first-party analytics store identifiers to recognise you across visits; if you decline, analytics stay anonymous and analytics identifiers are removed. Use the persistent Privacy settings control on any page to change your choice without clearing bookmarks, scenarios, theme, or other unrelated site data.

Why we use your data (legal bases)

• Consent — cookie-based analytics (which you accept via the banner) and the newsletter (you confirm via double opt-in). You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Contract & legitimate interests — anonymous, storage-free analytics to understand how the guide is used; running your account, saving your scenarios and bookmarks, answering your questions; and keeping the service secure and free of abuse.

Service providers (sub-processors)

We share data only with vetted providers that process it on our behalf:

• Supabase — database and storage for guide content, saved reader data, contact messages, and correction submissions.
• Render — application hosting.
• Cloudflare — bot protection (Turnstile) on the assistant.
• PostHog (EU) — anonymous, storage-free measurement by default and persistent product analytics only after consent.
• TigerData — operational event data, including “Ask the Guide” question text, processed under our legitimate interests and retained for 90 days, then deleted.
• Resend — newsletter and transactional email delivery.
• WorkOS — authentication and sign-in.
• OpenAI and Voyage AI — powering “Ask the Guide”: your question text is processed to generate an answer and, under our API agreements, is not used to train their models.
• Upstash — rate-limiting and caching.
• Stripe — payment processing (when paid plans launch).

International transfers

Some providers are located in the United States. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards for transfers out of the EEA/UK.

How long we keep it

Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe; account data while your account exists; analytics in aggregate; raw “Ask the Guide” question events in TigerData for 90 days; contact messages until handled and then for 90 days; and a correction submitter’s private email until the correction is closed and then for 90 days. Accepted correction text and an explicitly consented public display name remain in the public corrections log; display names attached to rejected corrections are removed after the same 90-day closure period. The scheduled retention job deletes or anonymises the bounded records automatically. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

Your rights

EU / UK (GDPR): access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent.

California (CCPA/CPRA): the right to know, delete, and correct, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal data — we do neither — plus non-discrimination for exercising your rights.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, secrets are held in managed secret stores, and access is least-privilege. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.

Children

The Guide is a professional reference, not directed to children, and not intended for anyone under 16.

Changes

We may update this policy and will revise the date above; we’ll note material changes.

The Guide is published by Fehn Originals AS (Norway), which acts as data controller for the processing described above.
